BIO

Karla Cecilia Rodríguez was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1979 but grew up in Nicaragua, where she developed her love for art by drawing from a young age. In 1998, she took her first watercolor and charcoal course, which reaffirmed her calling.

She studied International Business & Marketing at Loyola University New Orleans and earned a Master's in Social Responsibility & Human Resources at ESERP Barcelona. Despite her academic background, art remained a constant in her life. In 2002, she began experimenting with oil and acrylic painting, and in 2006, she moved to Madrid to study under Jon Ander del Arco and Jaime Hernández de la Torre, as well as graphic design and photography.

In 2009, she discovered collage and studied contemporary techniques at the Accademia D’Arte ADA with Sonia de Franceschi in Florence, Italy. Her first work in this technique, created with recycled materials, was selected for a painting biennial that same year. In 2015, she joined a workshop with Nuria Balcells in Barcelona, where she refined her style using everyday elements.

Her works have been exhibited at the Central Bank of Nicaragua, the Rubén Darío National Theater, and the Ortiz Guardián Foundation. In 2020 and 2021, she participated in an exhibition at the Walt Disney Museum in San Francisco, CA. Additionally, she was selected for the "Curating Collage Workshop" by Kolaj Magazine, an experience in which she curated a piece for the Fleming Museum in Vermont and connected with other international artists passionate about collage.

Her art explores transformation and the beauty of the discarded, turning traces and fragments into visual stories that invite viewers to see the world from a new perspective.
